The 3rd-Gen and 4th-Gen Tacoma Have Different Floor Pans

The 3rd-generation Tacoma ran from 2016 through 2023. The 4th generation arrived for the 2024 model year on Toyota's new TNGA-F platform, sharing bones with the Tundra and Sequoia. That platform change isn't cosmetic. The 4th-gen has a wider track, a re-engineered firewall, repositioned pedals, and a different center-tunnel profile.

What that means at the floor:

• The 4th-gen driver footwell sits at a different depth and angle.
• The 4th-gen pedal cluster is closer together and shaped differently.
• The 4th-gen center tunnel rises at a steeper contour than the 3rd-gen.
• The rear footwell on the 4th-gen Double Cab is wider, with new seat-track mounting points.

A 3rd-gen mat dropped into a 4th-gen truck will float on the tunnel, leave the edge gapped at the door sill, and slide under the pedals. The reverse is just as bad. Our 3rd-gen and 4th-gen mats are separate SKUs because the trucks are separate vehicles underneath the badge.

Our Current Tacoma Fitment Is Double Cab, Automatic, in Three SKUs

Toyota has built the Tacoma in several cab styles across generations (Access Cab on 3rd gen, XtraCab on 4th gen, plus the Double Cab on both). What we currently make is the Double Cab set, which is the volume-selling configuration. Our three Tacoma SKUs are:

• 2016-2023 Tacoma Double Cab: fits automatic transmission only. The product page explicitly notes it does not fit manual transmission vehicles.
• 2024-2026 Tacoma Double Cab (gas): fits automatic transmission only.
• 2024-2026 Tacoma Hybrid: separate SKU from the gas 4th gen because hybrid powertrain routing changes the floor pan.

3. The new dashboard slope changes how the driver's mat seats at the firewall. Our 4th-gen tooling accounts for it. Third-gen tooling does not.

TRD Trims Fit the Same Mat as Their Non-TRD Siblings Within the Same SKU

Within a given Tacoma SKU, the floor pan is the same across trim levels. SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, and Limited all use the same floor geometry within their generation and powertrain. Same mat set. Same price.

That's a deliberate brand position on our side: we price per vehicle SKU, not per trim. A TRD Pro Tacoma costs more from Toyota than an SR, but our floor mat set is the same price either way. Are TuxMat® Tacoma mats safe for off-road use?

The three-layer construction is built for daily driving in extreme weather, mud, and dirt. We don't claim specific abrasion specs, off-road durability ratings, or puncture resistance. Are the mats waterproof?

The top layer is water-resistant. The mats protect against, block, and shield from slush, snowmelt, mud, and spilled liquids in normal use. We don't claim "waterproof" because there are use cases (full submersion, pooled liquid left for days) where any mat eventually saturates.

What's the difference between Tacoma TRD Pro and SR mats?

None on our end. The floor pan is shared between trims within the same SKU. Same mat set. Same price.

Why is the 4th-gen Hybrid a different SKU from the 4th-gen gas Tacoma?

Hybrid powertrain routing on the 4th gen changes the floor pan compared to the gas version, so we tool the Hybrid separately from the gas Double Cab. Both fit 2024-2026 model years.

Do you offer a trunk mat for the Tacoma?

Tacoma doesn't have a trunk. For bed protection, that's a separate aftermarket category we don't currently make.

How long does it take to install?
